**Tags**: #MemberData #Transparency #Vendors > [!info] > This information is shared as part of Decombine's commitment to [[Open Core]] practices. ## Why talk about our vendors Companies have historically relied on secrecy about who they work with and how they use their data in the belief that this somehow protects their users. More often than not, this lack of transparency results in lax standards about how they work with those vendors and what they have access to. We don't do that here. Decombine separates vendors into three categories: 1. **Transmit, process, or host Member data** Vendors in this category are in some way involved with delivering services to Decombine Members. Vendors in this category do not necessarily have the ability to read or access your data, as it is encrypted, but they may be trusted with the responsibility of performing encryption or transmitting data across the world (such as in the case of a content delivery network or CDN). You can read about the *specific* data that each vendor has access to and why at [[Vendor Data Architecture Transparency]]. 1. **Used by Decombine and/or Combine DAO Corporation** Vendors in this category do not handle Member data, but they are involved with some aspect of Decombine Corporation or Combine DAO Corporation operations. This may be hardware, office rental, software, or services that help us to build and operate around the world. 2. **Used for Public Relations** Vendors in this category do not handle Member data, nor are they used by Decombine's operations, but they play a role in facilitating external Public Relations, Marketing, and Communications. We mention these vendors for the sake of completeness. **** ### Vendors: Transmit, process, or host Member data 3. Microsoft Corporation 4.
